The Eye – Australian Outback

Australian Outback

This photo was taken in 2013, I’m pretty jealous about this image so this is why i publish it only now.

I was traveling in the Australian Outback from Alice Springs to Melbourne, and during night time we stopped in a camping to have a nice break from lots of hour of driving.
The night, like usually happens in this places was really clear and no moon was going to rise.
I stayed up all night to get the most from this amazing sky that I had never seen before. So I dedicated most of the time capturing the sky with 85mm lens then when the Milky Way was starting and ending from the road i decided to set my stuff for this 360° pano.

I had to set up more then once everything on the dusty road because some cars needed to go trough. So actually I lost a bit of time preparing the tripod and making sure that it was stable and horizontal. The day after I discovered that there was an airport near where we stayed, it connected the Australian Outback with the rest of Australia.

The red color is the main color you’ll see in the Australian Outback. The year I went to the Australian Outback it had rained a lot so it wasn’t so red as expected but a little bit more green, and also the temperature was lower than usually, this helped a lot our trip during day time, but at night the temperature dropped fast and we needed a good coat to resist.

After this night we moved to Uluru (Ayers rock) and Kata Tjuta (Mount Olga). I was hoping to take some night photos again, but we had to stay to far away from these two rock formation to get good photos with the Milky Way over.
